From the square in front of Salzburg's main train station, bus routes 1, 3, 5 and 6 will take you in about 10 minutes directly to the Old Town.
From either the "Rathaus" [town hall] stop or the "Ferdinand Hanusch Platz" it is a 5-minute walk to the Residenzplatz via the Getreidegasse and the Alter Markt.
Alternatively, from the station you can take the S-Bahn [suburban train] to "Mülln-Altstadt", then it's a 15-minute walk to the Residenzplatz
Salzburg Airport is only 4km from the town centre. Take bus route 10 or a taxi – either will take around 20 minutes.

Use the Park & Ride facility in Salzburg; please note that we are in a pedestrian zone with restricted access to the Old Town for motorised traffic.
According to the regulations of the Salzburg City Council, it is possible to enter the pedestrian zones of Salzburg's old town by car from Monday to Saturday between 6 am and 11 am without a permit. Please note that you must leave the area by 11 a.m. at the latest. Outside of these regular entry times, you will require a special permit to enter the area, which must be obtained directly from the owner of the vehicle at Salzburg City Hall.
We ask you to take this regulation into account when planning your event and for your understanding that, due to the applicable regulations, we are unable to provide direct support in applying for or obtaining an entry permit. However, we will be happy to provide you with the contact details.
In the town centre, parking is easiest and most convenient in one of the multi-storey car parks: Mönchsberg, Nonntal, Mirabell, Schwarzstrasse and Linzergasse.
