Josef Schwemminger (1804 - 1895)

Josef was initially trained by his father, porcelain painter Anton Schwemminger (1764–1808). His elder brother was history and portrait painter Heinrich (1803–1884). Josef studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and travelled in the former monarchy countries, in Bavaria and Italy. He joined the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1868.
