Johann Baptist Reiter (1813 - 1890)

From 1830 to 1842 Reiter attended the Vienna Academy under Johann Nepomuk Ender (1793–1854) and Leopold Kupelwieser (1796–1862), subsequently becoming a successful portrait and genre painter. His oeuvre exhibits a natural immediacy without moral admonition. His art was strongly influenced by Johann Peter Krafft (1780–1856), who combined French classicism with closeup naturalism.
