Between 1829 and 1833, Ender painted for Archduke Johann (1782–1859) the glaciers and mountains of the Grossglockner and Grossvenediger, and the valleys around Gastein, Rauris and Kaprun. The Grossglockner with the Pasterze Glacier, which dates from this period, is the oil painting from a watercolour now in the graphic arts collection of the Residenzgalerie.
