Battista di Niccolò Luteri di called Dossi (um/c 1500 - 1548)

Battista was the younger brother of the famous Dosso Dossi, whose nickname “Dosso” erroneously contributed to the adoption of the surname Dossi. During the greater part of their career, Battista di Niccolò di Luteri and Giovanni Francesco di Niccolò di Luteri (c 1486 Tramuschio/Mirandola – 1541/42 Ferrara) were in the service of Dukes Alfonso I d’Este and Ercole II at the court in Ferrara. Attribution to one or other of the brothers is made difficult by their collaboration. In 1530 they participated in the fresco decorations in the Villa Imperiale outside Pesaro, and in 1531/32 they painted frescos for Cardinal Bernardo Cles in the Castello del Buonconsiglio in Trento.
