Franz Christoph Janneck (1703 - 1761)

Trained by his father and by Matthias Vangus, Janneck met Johann Georg Platzer (1704– 1761) in Vienna in 1721. He went on to study in southern Germany and Frankfurt am Main with Josef Orient (1677–1747), who was later his marriage witness. Janneck, his brother-in-law Johann Gabriel Canton (1710– 1753) and Orient all belonged to the “Frey Compagnie” (a voluntary military company formed in 1741, during the War of the Austrian Succession) of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. Through a decree issued by Empress Maria Theresa (1717–1780), Janneck and Troger (1698–1762) were made honorary members of the Academy.
