Jim Dine (1935 - n.a.)
Jim Dine’s oeuvre comprises the entire range of the fine arts; he works as painter, draughtsman and photographer as well as media and performance artist. In recent years he has also given poetry readings. His work eludes any clear stylistic categorisation. Rather, it shows intensive exploration of his selected subject, which he then renders in a very personal formal language. While still at school, Dine already felt he had a vocation as an artist. From 1952 he attended evening classes at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. In 1954 he enrolled at the University of Cincinnati, later moving to Ohio University in Athens.
