This offers a magnificent view from a wide open window of the "piano nobile" of Klessheim Palace. The eye roams over the green lawns of the park, a hedge, and behind it the ochre-coloured fields towards Salzburg. There is the Fortress, to the left of it the Mülln Church, the silhouette of the town and the Kapuzinerberg, on the right the church tower in Maxglan. The mountain backdrop is impressive: Gaisberg, Schwarzenberg, Mühlstein and Schlenken. The atmosphere is slightly hazy; shadows and light effects indicate a mild summer afternoon.
The small, almost incidental details are especially charming: a woman dressed in blue, strolling past well-tended flowerbeds in the park; a coach heading on the right towards the shady avenue. The tranquil idyll is typical of Alt’s œuvre.
