The Salzburg prince-archbishops invited the best artists of the time to contribute to the decoration of the staterooms in the Residenz. This generally meant engaging with already existing artistic designs. Thus the first exhibition of contemporary sculptures in these rooms seems appropriate. In dialogue with the state-rooms, Anglo-German sculptor Tony Cragg has developed works which lend fresh impetus to the perception of this historic setting.
